My iPhone switched to SOS mode unexpectedly and I can’t get it back to normal. I’ve tried restarting it, but it didn’t work. I need help getting my phone out of SOS mode as soon as possible because I can’t make regular calls or use the internet. Any solutions or tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
Try checking your iPhone’s settings to see if the ‘Emergency SOS’ feature is triggering automatically. Sometimes, accidental presses on the side button, volume button, or the power button can get your phone stuck in SOS mode. Here’s what you can do to fix it:
-
Turn Off Emergency SOS: Go to Settings > Emergency SOS. Turn off ‘Auto Call’ if it’s on. This prevents the Emergency SOS feature from activating accidentally.
-
Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This can fix any network issues that might be causing the problem.
-
Check for Software Updates: Go to Settings > General > Software Update. If there’s an update available, install it. Sometimes, updating your iOS can resolve such issues.
-
Force Restart: If a regular restart didn’t help, try a force restart. Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, then quickly press and release the Volume Down button, and then hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
-
SIM Card: Sometimes the phone could be in SOS mode because of an issue with the SIM card. Try removing and reinserting it. You can also try using a different SIM card to see if the issue persists.
-
Contact Apple Support: If none of the above steps work, it might be a hardware issue. Contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Let us know if you manage to fix it or if you need more advice.
Have you tried toggling Airplane Mode? I know it sounds basic, but sometimes simply turning Airplane Mode on and off can reset the network settings without going through the whole process of resetting them in the settings. Turn on Airplane Mode for a few seconds, then switch it off and see if it helps.
You might also wanna check your location services. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and toggle it off, then on again. While it’s less likely, it’s another network-related element that can sometimes play tricks.
Another step worth trying is restoring your iPhone via iTunes or Finder on a Mac. Connect your phone to a computer, select it when it appears in iTunes/Finder, and use the Restore iPhone option. This will reinstall the iOS, giving it a clean slate without affecting your data as much as a full restore.
Since you already tried a force restart but still got stuck, I suggest trying DFU mode if restoring doesn’t work. DFU mode is a deeper restore method that wipes and reloads the firmware entirely. You’ll need to Google the exact process based on your iPhone model because it’s a bit tricky involving button sequences and timing!
Lastly, before you think it’s a hardware issue, try resetting your carrier settings. Go to Settings > General > About. If there’s an update prompted next to Carrier, accept it. Sometimes updates from your telecom provider can create or solve these types of connectivity issues.
